WMM: Relief of a Siege
Crusaders Cut Through Saracen Forces
The first update for 2024 and it's been a while since the last time we gamed as a group! With several members being sick at various times, scheduing conflicts around the Holidays, and snowstorms, we really had not done anything major in almost two months! We were going to do a big Sword and the Flame game, but with only four of us we went with Warmster Medieval. This time it would be a sige of a Crusader castle, with the Saracens trying to block a Crusader relief force. The siege was just a backdrop as we didn't have the forces to do both a full blown siege and a major battle at the same time!
The Crusaders went right into the attack and the Saracens could tell it was going to be one of those nights when one side of the board failed its command rolls three turns in a row and in the first battle a Saracen heavy cavalry unit scored 6 hits out of 24 dice! Nor did things get any better. The Saracens kept moving to the attack with their greater numbers, but every assault was thrown back with huge losses. By Turn 6 things weren't looking good for the Saracens and the Crusaders were advancing on all fronts. The Saracens kept trying to even the score, but every attack just seemed to fall apart at the wrong time. By Turn 8 it was all over as the Saracens had hit their break point while the Crusaders had suffered only a few losses.
