Honours of War: First Try
French Attack Gets Repulsed
This was our first time using the Honours of War rules from Osprey as we are looking at various options for the Seven Years War. We spent some time going over the rules and trying to get the forces organized. The rules aren't necessarily complex, but a few sections needed to be re-read during the game to make sure that we were playing things correctly! We started out with a French attack on a smaller Prussian force just to learn the rule systems. While we were able to come to grips with the firing and melee (which use some interesting tables), we simply could not figure out how to attack without getting wiped out in the process! We went over the rules again and again, but every time the infantry advanced it was met with a hail of fire and that was the end of the attack! Either we have no idea what we're doing or there are some serious issues with the rules. We gave up after five or six turns to see if we could find some wisdom online, so we'll probably try this again at some point. Finally, the last image is from our forthcoming day after Thanksgiving game featuring the War of the Roses using the Hail Caesar rules. This will also be featured in the next issue of Warning Order.
