BKC IV: German Disaster
We May Have Broken The Rules
Every so often you have one of those games where you think that your gaming group may have broken the rules and this was one of those times! We had a scenario set in 1944 Poland with the Germans holding a central position and the Russians attacking from two sides. The Germans were a bit spread out, but the number of armored units on both sides should have made this a fairly close contest, which is not what happened! One of the Russian T-34/85 brigades pretty much ruined the night for the Germans, getting multiple command rolls per turn and simply overwhelming the German defenses. For example, two Tigers from a makeshift kampfgruppe were holding a treeline and were able to get off about 20 shots (D6 rolls), heavily damaging two of the T-34/85s. In return, they received 96 shots over a turn and this same brigade then put 80+ shots per turn into the German positions the next three turns. By the end of Turn 5 most German vehicles were burning and it was the end of the game! How to prevent this "ganging up" trend we're experiencing is now the question and we need to find some answers before the next game.
