BFE2: Reversal of Fortune
Two Front Attack & Defense
BFE2 twice in a row! In this scenario an enterprising Egyptian commander has moved out to bring in all of his isolated outposts and civilians in the area. Unfortunately, while he was gone the garrison switched sides and now his force is being pursued by an army of Dervishes and his one place of refuge is occupied. The British got wind of the town changing hands and have sent an expedition to assist with the retaking of the town and garrisoning it against the ever spreading revolt. The Egyptian commader put the best troops (Sudanese) in square with the baggage/civilians while the Bashi-bazouks and bazingers formed the rear guard. The Egyptian cavalry, camels, and artillery moved out in an effort to force their way through the crossroads, but were met by a Dervish mounted force. More and more enemy units arrived, with the rear guard engaged on two fronts. The British arrived and were promptly attacked from two sides, making it difficult for them to intervene in the battle on the other side of the table. Multiple attacks ground down the Egyptians and finally two sides of the square were overwhelmed, leaving the Dervishes in control of the town and having destroyed the Egyptian force.
